bribery

How I love living in the country who's so strict when it comes to law that even it set a provision for BRIBERY!!!. They knew that human and bribery maybe a long lost friend who might lost contact for some times, but when the urges to reunite is unbearable they're hardly to be separated.

So, I had this Australian Taxation Law lecture today. The topic was about tax deduction, meaning: if you incurred some particular expenses in gaining your income, or to the extent of carrying on a business, those expenses would be deductible. That is, you'll be able to claim it back from the tax office. I was nearly fall asleep during the lecture when my eyes caught such a what-the sentence says: "Bribes to public officials arent deductible." And I'm like "This gotta be joking!!!".

Surprisingly, that's what the case here in Aussie. What makes it interesting aint merely the content of the provision, rather the idea to set such a provision. Provision for bribery??!!! How could the law setters came up with this idea?? AMAZING. Seems all the works done by the law setters in setting this provision are mostly paid off. I'm not trying to say that Aussie is free from bribery (is it any in this whole wide world??), but obviously the level of bribery here would be so much reduced. Why would people spend their money on bribery if all the procedure, bureaucracy etc go smoothly anyway???

Maybe thats why bribery's such a common thing in Indo. Coz most of the officials themselves make it hard for people to get things right. Hmm....such well-established intention. Make things hard, people will come and beg and not to mention bribe to get everything done much easier than it would be otherwise. And flows go into their pocket.
