diminishing marginal utility

ever wondered what on earth Paris Hilton, Nicole Richie, Lindsay Lohan and the other Hollywood A-listers got in their mind they've become the main prey of paparazzi, mainly due to their indescribable actions? The most common answer you might come up with is because they're after fame (more and more fame I should say). If that's the case, try to apply the law of Diminishing Marginal Utility. I first encountered this theory during Intro to Micro in first year. Swear to God, it took me ages to swallow the theory and fit it into my brain (me dont like Economics)! So the theory says, the more consumption (wealth) you have, the less pleasure you receive from the consumption (wealth). Why on earth you'd be less pleased by having more wealth? Because there's this threshold of satisfaction where an individual wouldnt feel as satisfied as the first time he has the consumption (generated wealth) once the threshold is crossed. Now, let's plug in the theory to those A-listers' case. You could say that they might have got the threshold crossed ages ago to explain their, again, indescribable actions. They no longer find any satisfaction from having more wealth. Surely having stuffs like first-class holidays, designers' stuff, exclusive mansion, party, etc etc are a-piece-of-cake for them. Then how do they please and satisfy themselves (apart from sex)? Those indescribable actions might be the one. Iseng, ga peduli apa kata orang yang penting hati syenang dan puas.
